The Financial Analyst will support Wonderful Pistachios and Almonds (WP&A) financial planning and analysis processes by delivering insights that drive business performance and support strategic decision-making. This role is instrumental in the monthly financial close process, preparation of key P&L presentations, cost variance analysis, and participation in long-term planning and annual budget cycles.

The position will collaborate cross-functionally with teams across the organization, including Accounting, Operations Finance, Domestic and International Sales, Global Supply Chain and Logistics, to evaluate and forecast financial performance.

The Financial Analyst will leverage tools such as Power BI and data visualizations to summarize key messages, enabling leadership to quickly interpret trends and make informed decisions. Additionally, the role will contribute to cross-functional projects and process improvement initiatives, using analytical insights to enhance operational efficiency and drive organizational growth.

This position will be based at our West Los Angeles, CA office. We work a hybrid schedule with an in-office requirement Monday-Wednesday and the option to work remotely on Thursday and Friday.

Job Description

  • Monthly Financial Reporting & Analysis
    • Coordinate and prepare the monthly P&L reporting deck for senior leadership, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and meaningful insights.
    • Analyze actual financial results against forecast, budget, and prior year to identify and explain key variances and trends.
    • Communicate financial performance to stakeholders in a clear, concise, and actionable format, highlighting key assumptions, risks, and business drivers.
    • Partner with cross-functional teams to monitor performance metrics and uncover trends and drivers related to shipments, spending, and profitability.
    • Create visual tools such as charts, graphs, and dashboards to present complex financial data in an accessible and impactful way.
  • Forecasting & Budgeting
    • Support the development of the 5 Year Rolling Forecast and Annual Budget processes, including calendar creation, data collection, and consolidation across departments
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather key business inputs and insights that inform accurate forecasts.
    • Build and maintain financial models to support long-term strategic planning and data-driven decision-making.
    • Conduct research and analysis of historical financial data to identify trends and support assumptions.
    • Ensure consistency, accuracy, and alignment of financial inputs across all business functions.
  • Supply Chain Financial Support
    • Partner with Sales, Logistics, and Supply Chain teams to monitor operational performance, identify cost drivers, and support strategic sourcing and vendor negotiations.
    • Provide financial analysis and oversight for logistics operations by tracking domestic and international expenses to ensure cost accuracy and efficiency.
    • Assist in the development and maintenance of reporting tools and dashboards to monitor logistics costs, performance metrics, and operational KPIs.
  • Process Improvement
    • Proactively identify opportunities to enhance financial reporting processes and tools for greater efficiency and accuracy.
    • Utilize systems such as Excel, Power BI, and ERP platforms (Oracle, EPBCS) to automate workflows and improve data accessibility.
    • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial systems and data through regular validation, cleanup, and maintenance activities.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on process redesign and cost-saving initiatives by supporting data collection, analysis, and performance tracking.

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of relevant experience in FP&A or related field
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Statistics or a related field is preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office; advanced Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with or a strong willingness to become proficient in Power BI, including transforming data, creating measures, and building reports
  • Experience with Oracle or another large ERP system a plus
  • Ability to perform financial analysis, including ability to effectively communicate findings and recommendations
  • Strong attention to detail and a desire for accuracy
  • Outstanding verbal/written communication, presentation, organizational and teamwork skills
  • Collaborative team player, strong relationship-building, and active partnership with cross-functional teams
  • Strong analytics and strategic thinking skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and entrepreneurial spirit to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to interact with department leadership and senior executives in a confident and professional manner
  • Comfortable with shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment

Pay Range: $75,000 - $80,000 and may include a discretionary bonus. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.
