Equipment Coordinator
Company Description
Neptune Pacific Direct Line (NPDL) operates market leading brands in shipping and logistics services across 18 Pacific Island markets. The Company is vertically integrated providing supply chain solutions between worldwide markets and the Pacific Islands. NPDL is the largest carrier in its core Pacific Island markets operating eight container ships and servicing 18 Pacific Island nations.
The Equipment Coordinator will manage and coordinate the movement, availability, and condition of shipping containers to ensure efficient utilization, minimize costs, and support timely vessel and customer operations.
Job Description
- Monitor container stock levels across depots, ports, and customer sites to ensure availability aligns with operational demand.
- Coordinate container release, repositioning, and off-hire activities in line with shipping schedules and business needs.
- Liaise with depots, shipping agents, and transport vendors to facilitate container returns, repairs, and inspections.
- Maintain up-to-date records of container movement, damage status, dwell time, and utilization in the system.
- Work closely with the commercial, transport, and documentation teams to align equipment planning with export/import needs.
- Investigate and follow up on container discrepancies, delays, or damages.
- Ensure data accuracy in inventory systems such as CargoWise, LMS, or other container control platforms.
- Track and report on equipment KPIs including dwell time, idle stock, and container imbalance.
- Provide timely reports to management on container positioning, utilization, and forecasted shortfalls or surpluses.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, shipping line policies, and safety procedures.
Qualifications
- Experience in container operations, depot coordination, or shipping line logistics (2+ years preferred)
- Strong understanding of container types, lease terms, and equipment control processes
- Excellent communication and coordination skills to manage multiple stakeholders (internal and external)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and container tracking systems (e.g. CargoWise, LMS or similar)
- Analytical and detail-oriented, with the ability to troubleshoot operational bottlenecks
- Able to work in a fast-paced and time-sensitive environment
- Accuracy of container stock reporting
- Container turnaround time (dwell days)
- Equipment utilization rates
- Reduction of unnecessary repositioning or detention charges
- Timeliness in addressing container-related issues or delays
