Job Description

Job Summary

The Associate VIII – Mobile Shop may perform a variety of significant tasks, which contribute to the over-all performance and safety of pistachio & almond production machinery and systems. These may include performing tasks in multiple areas, including but not limited to Electrical Systems, Fabrication, Facilities, Food Safety, IT, Maintenance, Mobile Shop, Packaging, Production, Sanitation and Water Systems. The Associate VIII plays a vital role in their contribution to the overall goals of various departments. 

Duties & Responsibilities 

(You may be asked to perform some or all of the duties described below.) 

  • Perform repair work on Vehicles and equipment, such as breakdowns, malfunctions, and emergency repairs, both in-plant and roadside, in a safe, efficient, and quality manner.  
  • Train and mentor lower-level associates. 

  • Lead FMDS meetings and communicate updates.  

  • Perform operation test prior to repairs to verify complaint. 

  • Collaborate with operations staff to provide rapid customer service and support in a production environment.  

  • Diagnose the cause of any malfunction and perform repairs to manufacturer’s specifications, including engines, transmissions and clutches, suspension and steering, fuel and ignition (gas, diesel, and propane), electrical systems, brakes, and HVAC systems.  

  • Follow paper-flow procedures, including documenting correct mileage/hours, saving and tagging all warranty and core parts, documenting all repairs on work order using complaint, cause, and correction format, and following parts ordering procedures.  
  • Performs complete trailer rewiring, including installing and testing 7-way connectors. 

  • Perform final operational test on all work to quality-check all repairs.  

  • Perform required inspections and preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment (TK, Lifts, Heavy Equipment, Diesel, etc.) such as fluid changes, lubrications, safety inspections, and brake repairs, etc. to maximize the safety, productivity, and life cycle of the unit.  

  • Perform BIT inspections.  

  • Knowledge of brake and drum sizes and show mics and adjustment specifications.  

  • Troubleshoot ABS (Anti-lock Braking System).  

  • Troubleshoot lighting system and perform component replacements.  

  • Perform trouble shooting utilizing scanner and computer. 

  • Perform AC repairs. 

  • Perform preventative maintenance on off-road equipment such as lubrications, adjustments, cutting-edge replacements, and safety inspections.  

  • Operate a tire mounting and dismounting machine.  

  • Inspect tires for damage, know tire sizing, and determine appropriate size based on specifications (May reference standard operating procedures (SOPs)).  

  • Examine vehicles and equipment to determine if any additional safety or repair work is needed.  

  • Inspect, maintain, and repair forklifts and aerial lift equipment to maintain the safety and reliability of the unit.  

  • Visually inspect the structural integrity of aerial lift equipment and forklifts and report any deficiencies so that they can be corrected.  

  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs to forklift and aerial equipment in accordance with manufacturers and ANSI guidelines in a timely manner to maximize the life cycle and productivity of the equipment.  

  • Perform maintenance and repair welding on equipment. Fabricate parts as required, including any design work needed.  

  • Welding, cutting, grinding, and measuring using appropriate tools and equipment. 

  • Inspect for cracks or damage to assess needed repairs.  

  • Participate in Harvest-related preparation, tasks, or projects.  

  • General janitorial tasks such as sweeping, mopping, wiping, trash removal, etc.   

  • May be asked to perform other duties as assigned. 

Pay Range $33.00 - $41.25/hr 

Qualifications

Education / Experience 

  • High school diploma or general education diploma (GED) recommended.  

  • Trade/Technical certification recommended.  

  • 3-5 years of related experience recommended.  

  • Valid CA Driver’s License required.
