Manager, Byproduct Innovation

We are seeking a Manager, Byproduct Innovation to lead the development and execution of byproduct innovation initiatives that support the organization’s business strategy and sustainability goals. This individual will manage the full innovation pipeline—from research and ideation to prototyping and commercialization—while identifying high-impact opportunities to repurpose byproducts.
This position will be based at our West Los Angeles, CA office. We work a hybrid schedule with an in-office requirement Monday-Wednesday and the option to work remotely on Thursday and Friday.
Job Description
- Support the development and continuous refinement of the organization’s byproduct innovation strategy, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives and sustainability targets
- Conduct market and technology research to identify emerging trends, technologies, and potential partners relevant to byproduct innovation and utilization
- Oversee the byproduct innovation pipeline, from ideation through feasibility assessment, prototyping, testing/piloting, and commercialization of byproduct-derived solutions
- Identify, evaluate, and prioritize opportunities for byproduct utilization, including new product development, process optimization and waste reduction
- Develop and implement metrics to measure the effectiveness and impact of byproduct innovation initiatives
- Support business-led byproduct innovation projects from conception through implementation
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders—including R&D, operations, sustainability, marketing, legal and regulatory teams—to ensure successful development and compliance of byproduct innovations
- Document and communicate project progress, outcomes, and lessons learned to senior leadership and relevant departments
Qualifications
- Proven experience in management consulting, innovation strategy, product management, product development, process engineering, or sustainability roles
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of identifying and implementing creative solutions
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement and collaboration
- Knowledge of byproduct market trends, regulatory requirements, and best practices related to byproduct utilization and sustainable innovation
- Familiarity with Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) pathways and bioenergy technologies
- Industry experience in food and beverage, agriculture, consumer goods, or manufacturing preferred
Pay Range: $150,000 - $160,000 and may include a discretionary bonus. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.
