The Company is vertically integrated providing supply chain solutions between worldwide markets and the Pacific Islands. NPDL is the largest carrier in its core Pacific Island markets operating eight container ships and servicing 18 Pacific Island nations.
We currently have a great opportunity for the position of Heavy Goods Driver based at our Walu Bay Transport Depot reporting to the Transport Manager.
Job Description
- Operates assigned vehicles in a safe and courteous manner.
- Maintains defensive driving.
- Keeps assigned vehicles clean inside and outside.
- Performs daily checks on assigned vehicle as per basic checks, radiator, engine oil dip stick, wiper water and tyres.
- Performs minor vehicle repairs and Tyre change.
- Checks fuel level for assigned vehicles daily.
- Responds immediately to accidents or medical emergencies by notifying emergency response, providers, supervisor and rendering First Aid until emergency personnel arrive.
- Drivers must adhere to the W&G Drivers Standard Operating Procedures.
- Performs any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A valid driver’s license class 6,7, or 9
- Must be able to operate forklifts, trailers, hiabs, 20’/40’ hammer and steelbro side-lifters
- Must have 2 -3 years’ experience in a similar position
- Excellent communication skills both written & verbal
- Able to work flexible hours when required. Including local travel from time to time
- An honest and dedicated person with a good attitude
