Diesel Mechanic

Overview:

Repairs and maintains vehicles and handling equipment such as forklifts, commercial trucks and trailer, passenger vehicles, tractors and small engine equipment by performing the following duties.

Here’s what you’ll do:

With little or no supervision:

• Perform preventative maintenance on scheduled equipment, including vehicle inspections, cleaning and lubrication
• Individual must have knowledge of 12-volt vehicle electrical systems, air brake systems and fuel systems
• Remove and replace tires
• Repair and replace parts as needed, including gas, propane and diesel engines
• Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with equipment
• Submit requisitions for parts and supplies
• Documents all work done on reports accordingly
• NOTE: The maintenance supervisor, at any time, depending on the needs of the company, could add other duties

With some supervision:

• Examines parts to detect imperfections
• Repair electrical powered forklifts
• Welds/fabricates equipment and components

Here’s what you’ll bring to the table:

• Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in Spanish and/or English.  Conversational English and/or Spanish is desired but not required.
• Must be able to perform basic arithmetic
• Must be able to troubleshoot equipment/process problems and propose solutions. Problem solving skills are essential to this position.
• Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
