Instructional Aide, SPED 1:1

Wonderful College Prep Academy is a charter network in California's Central Valley committed to providing a world-class education for all students. The Academy's first school opened in Delano in 2009, serving students from across the Central Valley in grades 6-12. In 2016, we moved to our new, state-of-the-art college prep campus in Delano, and in the Fall of 2017, added an elementary school in Delano and opened a second charter school in Lost Hills. In Delano, we serve over 1,800 students in grades TK-12, while in Lost Hills, we serve over 400 students in grades TK-12. 

Our students have access to technology in all grades, from hands-on STEM learning for younger students in a fully equipped "maker's space" to school-provided laptops for older students. The Academy aims to provide every opportunity for our students that often is not found in public or charter schools, including the ability to graduate from high school with a free Associate Degree. Through a unique partnership with Bakersfield College, our students enroll in college classes starting in 9th grade and complete all their A-G requirements, in addition to their AS Degree requirements over the course of four years. In addition, all graduates are eligible to earn a four-year renewable college scholarship through the generous support of Lynda and Stewart Resnick.

• Shared Vision: Supports a vision of excellence for all students, with an urgency to maximize every opportunity necessary to achieve ambitious student outcomes. 
• Teaching and Learning: As determined by your direct supervisor in support the Special Education Teacher, support classroom learning and provides 1:1 or small group student support and instruction, as needed. This may include, but is not limited to, supporting students’ behavioral and/or medical needs, as well as academic, and providing interventions, as needed. Environments may include general education and special education environment, including social activities.
• Campus Safety and Supervision: Supports campus supervision before, during, and after school; in specific cases this may include bus/van duties for transportation needs.
• Community Outreach: Demonstrates commitment to the community by communicating regularly with families and attending key community events.
• Compliance Activities: Provides Special Education Teacher with support including clerical support, administrative tasks, translating/interpreting, etc.
• Coverage Support: Leads the classroom in the absence of lead teacher.
• Community Outreach: Demonstrates commitment to the community by communicating regularly with families and attending key community events.
• Professional Expectations: Participate fully in assigned professional developments, staff meetings, and planning sessions. Participate in the coaching cycle (being observed, receiving feedback, collaborating on action steps, implement action steps, etc.). Support the general day-to-day activities of the school site.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Special Education Leadership or site administration.

• Associate’s Degree needed; Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Bilingual preferred
• Substitute Permit preferred
• Experience working with school-aged children, in particular those with special needs

Skills, Knowledge:

• Ability to read, understand, and implement lessons based on state standards
• Knowledge with providing assessments and progress monitoring; maintaining accurate records
• Preferred to have familiarity with and/or the ability to learn IEP documentation, and Special Ed Reporting Software (i.e. Siras)
• Familiarity with and/or the ability to learn RTI, Co-teaching, Collaboration, small group instruction
• Training or familiarity with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
• Knowledge or familiarity with de-escalation strategies (CPI certified preferred)
• Certification (will certify) and help students in performing first aide and/or CPR, when necessary
• Proficiency with various technologies and teaching tools

Pay Range: $17.00 - $26.00. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.

• Wonderful College Prep Academy offers highly competitive compensation, commensurate with experience, which includes generous performance bonuses.
